National Kart Supply takes two in Charlotte

HUBERTUS, Wis., The National Kart Supply Haase team rolled into Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte for the second round of the WKA George Kugler Manufacturer’s Cup Series March 10-12.

Mark Vielgut started his 2006 campaign in dominant form with a clean sweep of the 44 entry TAG class.  After starting the final from pole, Vielgut took an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 4.007 second margin of victory aboard his Haase Future chassis.  Meanwhile, in the ICA final, Mark finished a solid 7^th place despite not practicing for the class.

Jeff Jewell came to Charlotte looking to maintain the momentum from victory at the opening round in Daytona.  In Yamaha Masters Jewell did just that by piloting his Haase Future chassis to the win in both the pre-final and final.  Jewell also put in a great drive in the Yamaha Sr. Sportsman Heavy class.  A pre-final accident relegated him to a 28^th starting spot for the final in which he proceeded to pick off 18 karts on his way to a 10^th place finish.

TJ Koyen represented NKS in the junior classes at Lowe’s.  Following a difficult qualifying session in HPV Junior Lite, TJ was able to transfer into the final through the consolation race.  From there he made his march forward aboard his Haase Monte Carlo to finish the final in 10^th position.

Nic Johnsrud had some unfortunate luck in Charlotte.  His 6^th place qualifying effort in HPV Lite was negated by a pre-final crash and the chain coming off in the final.  Nic will look forward to better luck when the series resumes action in July at Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend for the WKA Grand Nationals.
