NKS/Haase team grabs three podiums at Zoom Zoom Nationals

HUBERTUS, Wis. - The National Kart Supply/Haase team rolled into Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana for the Mazda Zoom Zoom Nationals, round two of the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup presented by Bridgestone.  On the heels of a solid Midwest Sprint Series event the weekend before, the NKS/Haase team was looking for more good results.

Mark Vielgut would start the weekend off on the right track with a podium finish in the 36 entry TaG class.  Starting the final in 6th, Vielgut would move his Haase Future chassis through the pack.  Mark had a great battle with Connor Daly for the 3rd position; eventually grabbing the spot to be the highest finishing non-Leopard powered kart.

In HPV Lite Vielgut would take one more step up the box to come home with the 2nd place trophy.  A front row starting spot for the main event put him in a great position to challenge for the win.  Mark controlled most of the race, leading 14 of the 16 laps.  However, the victory eluded him and he had to settle for bringing his Haase Future chassis home in the runner up position.

The HPV Heavy main event was marred by two crashes on the opening lap.  Vielgut was unable to avoid the carnage and ended up with another kart parked on top of his helmet.  Mark was able to keep the kart running and tried to chase down the pack.  The Haase Future chassis was clearly on the pace with lap times only .069 seconds off the fastest of the race, allowing Mark to make his way back to 8th place.

Jeff Jewell arrived at the track late Friday and was only able to get 3 laps of practice.  Despite the lack of track time Jewell was able to put his Haase Spirit chassis on pole for the Yamaha Masters final.  Jeff narrowly missed out on the victory after a tight battle saw him finish .117 seconds behind the leader in 2nd position.

In the always tough 26 kart Yamaha Senior Sportsman Heavy class Jewell started the final in the 10th spot.  A wrong choice of gear cost him some pace.  However, Jeff was still able to make up one spot from his grid position to finish in 9th place, only 3.8 seconds off the lead.

After a solid weekend with 3 podium finishes the National Kart Supply/Haase team will be aiming to move to the top step of the podium at the next event, the RACERSITES.com Grand Nationals at USA International Raceway in Shawano, Wisconsin on June 15-17.

National Kart Supply is the sole US importer of the Haase chassis and components.  For more information on the Haase line of chassis please feel free to contact National Kart Supply at 877-89-HAASE, www.nationalkartsupply.com, or at info@nationalkrtsupply.com
